I would like to upgrade my C, It is in 12 volts negative ground.
PERTRONIX 1142 is the most common option, but expansive Did you try some over supplier , or Chinese for example? Cross references? Do i have to put another type of new plugs with the Pertronix?

Pertronix is the most common vendor... You use the same plugs / wires and coil if you want.. There is a "better" quality coil available with the KIT, if you really need a new coil.

You get what you pay for! I have had very good luck with the Pertronix EIs. I have not looked for any Chinese product, nor would I given their reputation for poor quality.

As said above pay cheap and get cheap. Check out www.brillman.com The 12v+ and 6v+ are more expensive than the 12v-
Consider that once you've installed the conversion it will out last you and you never have to deal with crappy condensers any more, they're money well spent.

If you decide to purchase an Pertronix electronic ignition, make sure the spark plug wires that are on your Tractor are NOT solid core! An easy way to tell is look at the end of the wire. If its silver in color, it's probably solid core. If the end of the wire is Black, it's probably carbon core which is what you want. Also some spark plug mfrs ink right on the spark plug jacket "radio resistance wire". or 'Resistor wire". If you're running a 12V conversion system, make sure the coil you're using is a 12V/3.0 Ohm coil. You need 2.7-3,3 Ohms of resistance in the ignition circuit for a 4 cylinder on 12V's. This particular coil will work fine for your E.I. We're a Pertronix dealer if your interested.... Steve@B&B bb-customcircuits.com

I see different Pertronix models which are similar
1142 , or 1143 , or 1146A ? All of them are for Delco what are the differences?

There are versions for the 4 cylinder spring cap, 4 cylinder screw cap and 6 cylinders. Your C should have a 4 cylinder spring cap, using the 1142. However you should call someone that knows which ones fit which distributer with your distributer number that in on the tag. Like Brillman's @1-888-274-5562. That is where I go to for anything electrical.

Do you think that the 40Kv coil give some benefits on the power or fuel consumption with an Allis C with a low compression ratio Does it is same plugs with the standard coil about 25KV and the 40Kv? And what about the point gap of the spark plug ? PerTronix tell that spark plug gap may be increased up to 0,01" ( so it will be 0,04" to 0,05") What do you think of that?

No. You will not live long enough to ever pay back the money spent on that fancy coil. High voltage coils on these low compression engines is nothing but an advertising gimmick. When a spark is induced in an ignition system, the voltage only rises high enough to actually initiate the spark to jump the gap, after which time the voltage actually reduces as the current flows across the ionized gap. Once the fire is lit, there is no need for anything more than that. The Pertronix module merely replaces the breaker points and condenser; any coil/wire/plug combination that was suitable for use with breaker points will provide satisfactory performance with the Pertronix . The correct coil for the system voltage must be used (6 volt or 12 volt) |
