I am new to the forum. I recently purchased an allis chalmers b tractor that needs work. The water pump was leaking so i ordered a new one. I have also purchased manuals on this tractor for servicing an maintenance. I have been through books i got all all over the internet and for the life of me can't find torque spec for reinstalling water pump. Does anyone know what it is.

Welcome to a great forum. I just put one on a B and just tightened it up. I'm sure someone will know if there is a torque spec. Post some pics of your tractor. Where in WI are you?

You can look up the torque spec for your bolt size on the internet, you also need to know the SAE grade also. Probably grade 5. |

I put one on my B. I didn't realize there was a torque spec. I did just did as mdm1 did, just tighten it. It works and don't leak, I figure it's good to go.

I used no sealant at all. Just the gasket that came with the pump. I thought about using something, but I haven't had a problem yet.

nobody had a torque wrench in 1940 ... Most mechanics are just familiar with "tight" for a given size bolt.. If your not as experienced, then I would use a grade 5 torque for that size bolt and call it good.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Use anti-seize on the bolt threads just in case you or somebody else ever needs to work on it again.
