Any experts on here that know the good and bad, (if any) on the 655 shovel?

I know it was improved over the HD4 loader - will be looking at one in a few weeks and need some advice from the folks that have operated or kept a 655 in their stable.

Thank - You...Orangeman

good fast small machine but for heavy work - not the best .
Need counter weight to use loader efficiently - otherwise the 3/4 yd bucket will tip machine onto front idler when backing up .
The 2200 engine seems to have enough power to do most jobs but will stall because to torque converter - (not a bad thing in some cases)  Between my HD5G and the HD4 I had the HD4 was quicker in soft material but the HD5G would outwork the 4 and at a lower fuel cost .

We were usually working on the final drives every year or every other depending on how much we used ours. If you did not mind the axle seals seeping and paid attention to the oil level in them it would lead to expensive repair. As coke says not a heavy work machine, but fuel efficient.
