Near as I can tell the pump might have also been used on a Renault 551s tractor. Is there anyone that can confirm that??

The 6040 is made by Renault, but do not know the model number. The only thing Allis on it is the sheet metal - nothing mechanical. I can't help much more than that. Have you replaced the fluid, filters and screens related to the hydraulics? That is a good place to start. Don't assume it's the pump - might not be. A local hydraulic repair shop might be able to help you out.

Don't know if you found a pump or not. I have a 6040 Allis Chalmers found pump that fit mine. Here's the number. A7700035327 bought on AMAZON.$960.00.They have it on eBay little cheaper but no returns. Mine works fine . Tried finding one with pump number no luck The number I gave you is a reference number. It fits several different tractors.
