Hi everybody! Was hopeing someone on here might have info on a old A.C. 340 small wheel loader (1960's maybe?). A guy locally has one for sale and I would like to know the specs on the machine but I cant find anything about it online. Apparently it has a hydrostatic transmission powered by a Wisconsin 4 cylinder gas engine and is 4 wheel drive. Like to know before I bother calling the guy. I included a pic of it. Any info would be greatly appreciated Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! There must not have been many of those made as there is no mention of this model in serial number books that I have come across. It must be the little brother to the '640 model'. I think this is a time that "what you see is what you get". If you're creative you can probably make it useful in terms of service and repair. But to depend on any outside sources for parts etc. will be 'slim pickins' for sure.

There is no mention of a 340 wheel loader in the Swinford book.  Allis may have contracted out to build and market though.   Allis did market a 540 and 640 units which are bigger than the unit shown in the photo and saw short production runs of both.    X 2 what DIYDave mentioned - it looks like a rebadged product with an Allis nameplate.  Any parts support for these -? I also think it resembles a "Swinger" if it is power by a V4 Wisconsin, that will be you biggest headache, I've seen those that once you finally got them started if the were shut down, they couldn't be restarted until the next day when they were cold again. Everything else is most likely off the shelf Hydro parts. Repower it with a small diesel Kubota  and you have a handy machine.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

I assumed it was a proto-type. It has been advertised on Facebook.
