Does anyone know what aftermarket hub would fit a 14' Allis Chalmers disk? I was told it's a 2200 it's a 14' manual fold wings, 4 bolt hub. Have been unsuccessful finding anything about it, disk is still at auction lot 1 hr away the hub snapped in half after i barely got it off the lot.

Most implement and ag hubs are pretty standard sizes (not always, but about 80% of the time). It may be the case that the 'standard' hubs that fit that spindle are 5 bolt instead of 4-bolt (I had that on a wagon), but I'd be surprised if you can't find something readily available. I use these guys for my hubs (website below). If you do some cross-referencing on their website you can see what the spindle and bearing dimensions are for each hub size: Click on a hub, and it will tell you what bearings it comes with. If you then click on the bearing, you can see what diameter shafts they fit. etc. etc. They have pretty good prices: I bought a new hub and spindle (with all new bearings and seals) for my Allis baler, total cost was about $80, and sizing was identical to the original (In my case it was the spindle that broke. I could have re-used the hub, but it was cheap enough that I got it as well). There are lots of other hub suppliers as well - I just have had good luck with these folks.
The one I got for my baler might even be the same hub you need: Both pieces of Allis equipment from about the same era. But I think no matter what, you'll want to measure the spindle dimensions and confirm with whatever hub you find. If you really need to, spindle prices are cheap enough that you could just buy a new spindle as well, cut the old one off and weld the new one on. If really in a pinch, you certainly wouldn't be the first person to weld one back together to get you going. Vee-out the crack for a good weld prep and maybe use a bit of pre-heat, and you'll likely be fine. |
