On a plate, under the hood, ahead of the fuel tank, right side, is the serial number.  Post the serial number, and someone here can track it down for you...Wink

My best guess is assembled in 1972.
Mine is about 50 tractors earlier and was sold on 3/12/1973.
They shipped it from France.

Then started producing the 6040 for a year or two.
Does anyone one have a serial number on a 6040?
I wonder if they kept the serial numbers going or reset them.

I think the "One Sixty" was produced in 1969 - 72 ... and then called "160" and sold in 73-74 ???   Maybe ?

Norm’s book shows no information as far as serial numbers per year like all the other models show. Tractor data states they were built 1970-1975, it also doesn’t give a listing of serial numbers/year. Agco dealer wasn’t able to help with that information either. They do go by serial number when I get parts and filters. They think mine is a 1974 going by the latest parts listing. Who knows.

Your out of luck on the 6040 as well, no records. I’ve only seen one 6040.
