The governor on the AC gasoline engines is very responsive. I have heard that a lot from other people that used AC tractors. Had a neighbor say that he thought his WD 45 could smell a hill. His words.

The quick governor was the reason they were so good on belt work (ensilage cutters, blowers, etc.) One of our neighbors claimed his B was better on an ensilage cutter than either a Farmall M or John Deere A.

My Grandpa always said that a Allis governor would open up when he run over a match stick.

The old carnival rides with the Allis power units sure seemed snappy.

Snappy and rugged. Probably some of the most abused but dependable engines ever made.

We always had the WD that my grandson Nic has now, on the silage blower. It just ran wide open for hours at a time. A slug would go in and it would just purr right through it and be ready for the next one. Was very rare when we ever plugged the pipe. Now we only had 40 foot Unidilo silos.
They are very snorty! Love the sound. Looking forward to plowing with a couple Allis tractors in a month. Plow day at Sagertown Steam engine show grounds ( just across the street). Regards, Chris
