Someone local is trying to sell one and I am curious what it would be worth. Decent paint and rubber, has been shedded, seems to run good (but am told it can take starting fluid/hard start). Has a Woods belly mower. Think it is a 1948 model.
Anything special to look for on it, or variants that may be of interest? Any idea of a rough price range? |

Just go buy a zero turn like the guy on YT mag said ,,,, aint it amazing you cant get a simple question answered with being told how to lead your life?? There are quite a few B and C tractors with belly mowers for sale around these parts. The value to you depends on how particular about things and the actual condition. It is almost always cheaper to buy exactly what you want for condition rather than to build it from a lessor unit. As an example I want everything to work correctly on my tractors lights, charging system, gauges , brakes, steering etc, etc and I want all the sheet metal in place. Costs a lot of money to accomplish all that with the average to low condition unit. However if a person is happy with nothing working other than it runs and mows and placing it on a charger now and then so it will start why pay for more condition than that? Back to your question A model B or C in usable condition with a usable belly mower will be listed anywhere from $1000 to $3000 around here. The high end never sells as far as I can ell but the low end usually sells fairly quickly. Seen a couple pretty nice units at consignment sales that did not break $1500. A model B with mower will bring slightly more than a C with same equipment for reasons I have never been able to figure out. I have mowed with both for over 50 years now and would take a C over B (especially and early one) any day for a belly mower tractor.

Neighbor sold one last year for $1200 ran good.Had good tires mower looked good. the tractor paint was rough. I gave $1500 for mine with a L59 and the engine was stuck. I bought a new woods L306 deck for $2400. put it on the CA. I looked at one at a tractor dealer they wanted $4500 for a C with a Woods L306 I walked away. I don't know what it sold for but it was gone when I went by a month later. |

Had one given to me this spring, gave it some tlc and have used it all summer. Still needs brakes and have some turf tires to apply, but worked well with the budget

I got my C (1940) with a Woods L306 on it for $1200 a few years ago. It ran like a top and was in great shape. Only thing I needed to do was put brake bands in it. Now it needs a new bearing in the left side. At least I hope that's all....
I agree with Butch, I'd rather use a C than a B, but I wouldn't give up my CA for nothing! Without seeing it, it is hard to put a value on it. Anywhere from $1000 to $2500 for what you are looking at. Turf tires are a plus. |

Thanks for the feedback guys. Going to chat with the owner this next week and maybe get some pictures or some more info on it. Not even sure what particular woods belly mower it has on it. I'll come back with any new info I glean, but glad to have some ballpark ranges. Thanks!!
