Ok, so I've got a 1940 B and it has a sickle mower with it (been on for the past 2 years that I have owned it and I believe always on for the guy I bought it from)

So I've kinda been tooling the idea around in my head of trying to take the mower off for winter... Obviously no mowing to do and I might be getting a hydraulic kit and belly blade for it here in the near future .

So just kinda curious how big of a pain in the butt is it to take off and especially put back on (and how many people it takes)

Like I said I don't know, I've been playing the idea around in my head and for sure will if I get the blade and hydraulics (more than likely I won't get the set)

But let me know what you think, if it's really hard I might just leave it, just thought might be kinda nice without it on for a while

I took one off 5 years ago and mounted on a second tractor... Dont think it took much over an hour... Two bolts at the drawbar and two hangers in the front on the bell housing.. If you look close, one of the hangers in the front is removable. You set the unit on the ground, with the sickle bar in the air... ( i have a tapered wood assembly that i stick between a couple of the sickle sections and clamp on so the teeth dont move relative to the bar).... then pull it out between the front and rear wheel on that side.. I dont remember taking the front wheel off, but might get you a few more inches room.... you can also roll the tractor back and forth a foot while cranking the steering wheel to work around it.

If you get a manual it will tell you how to install and remove the mower. Basically you drive around it. 
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.

You are obviously much faster than I, but then that also applies to the vast majority of the population as well Wink

It is beneficial to have an able-bodied accomplice, especially during re-attachment; also a long pry bar and suitable blocking to get the front portion up and in position while one person installs the bolts.

A tricycle Model C is much easier the do the 'drive around the mower' maneuver with.

Gotta love a hand-start Model B! Smile

when its on the ground, pry up 3-4 inches and slide a 4 x 4 under it... then slide a small floor jack and lift slowly into position... Thats the only way your going to get it done if your working alone....yea, two would help.
