Allis B plow questions

   Had broken the point on the B plow I have and have found and replaced it with another new unused one. I went to the field to complete plowing and set the plow in the same set up I used before the point broke. The plow cuts in the ground real good. To goo for the tractor. It bogs down and then I get wheel spin, have to stop and back up and start again. This clearly wasn't the case with the old plow point. I have adjusted the front lift arm up to hole three from the end and as well adjusted the handle to be as far up as possible. It should lift the plow some out of the ground so it's not so deep but I am still not seeing results that work. Maybe someone has gone through this issue and can help solve this problem. I've posted in the AC section on YTMAG as well the same message so you may see it both places if you look.

	By "front lift arm", are you talking about the drawbar position lever that should be mounted in front of your right foot?

	Yes the front lift arm is just what you describe. It's just to the side of the battery box.

	An old worn share will need the depth (front drawbar) to be set much lower than everything else the same but with a NEW share. Keep raising the front until the depth setting is what your looking for. The link up to the lever should have enough holes to get it high enough to plow correctly.
	If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

	I managed to plow some on Saturday but the plow was not covering but leaving ridges. I got off the tractor to do something and noticed that the plow was not pulling straight back from the front hitch but at an angle to the far wheel from the furrow. It's as though it is pushing on the land side. This isn't normal so how do you adjust it to pull straight? The front hitch location is where it has always been. I though maybe I need to move the rear hitch location on the beam but that has a stud that is meant to be in one place. So I'm stumped. It might be the solution to the problem I'm having with the plow. It as always plowed with a tore up side wall in the furrow. This may have been the issue all along.

	Perhaps a longer landside is needed. The plow naturally pushes towards the landside and resisting that side thrust is the job of the landside or a trailing wheel in the furrow. Its taken up a lot in a three point hitch, not a snap coupler hitch. Even on the three point there has to be something to take the side thrusts, either diagonal chains on the three point or sway blocks to limit the sideways motion of the plow and the hitch. The three point hitch when used with plow on my Ford 8N (a lousy plowing tractor) had separate bars to handle that side thrust. Try a chain from the left front corner of the plow to the right axle of the tractor. Gerald J.
