Hope all of you are well. It has been almost 20 years since my last post on this forum. I restored my 1950 B to original condition in 1999 and this forum helped me then as a 20 year old. I’ve used my tractor in the garden for many years since then with many hours of success. I have to come back with a question and a request for help. I have a front seal of some sort that is leaking and I wanted to see how hard it would be to repair it. I will try to upload a picture to follow this description. My tractor has dripped the occasional drop from this area for many years but it has now turned to a steady stream of oil while the engine is running. Any help and advice would be appreciated.

look under the hood on each side.... behind the crank shaft pulley... see if you can see the leakage there, and dripping down... I would "assume" this is leaking around the crank shaft seal.... could be lower around the front cover or the oil pan, but seal would be my guess.......

See i you can locate where it starts and we can give a better idea of the fix.. If its ABOVE the oil pan, then  you will be pulling the hood, front shroud, radiator, so you can see the front of the motor --- seal and front cover.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

If it is the seal make sure you center the cover over the crankshaft BEFORE you install the seal. (I will be redoing one this year) You will probably need a speedi sleeve over the shaft as well.
Everything is impossible until someone does it! WD45-trip loader 1947 c w/woods belly mower, 1939 B, #3 sickle mower 1944 B, 2 1948 G's. Misc other equipment that my wife calls JUNK!

Mike, i always install the seal in the cover, then use THAT to help center the cover as i install...... I agree, if you install the cover, then put the seal in AFTER... YOU BETTER HAVE IT CENTERED REAL GOOD !

Crank has a groove to lube the old leather seal.. Thats how it PUMPS out oil.. your right, a speedi sleeve is needed to cover the crank and eliminate the groove, or it will tear up the new rubber seal.
