I'm in need of a gas tank for my Dad's Allis B tractor. Some how it developed pin holes on the top and the metal is paper thin. In looking for a tank, I've had it mentioned that there were two styles; a later style with a clip on the back and early style that is bolt on. Not being well versed in the B, I'm not sure which I need. Below is a picture of my B with the gas tank still on (it has not been removed yet by the mechanic). In addition, Dennis Stork has been good enough to provide me with a picture of a tank he has and I had been using in trying to locate a tank as mine is still on the tractor. If all works correctly, I am attaching pictures of both tanks. Can anyone tell me which style mine is and whether the one Den has will work on the tractor. Appreciate any assistance you can provide. Thanks, Dave

If you had the "bolt on" version, you would see a welded-on bracket at the rear of the top half of the tank and a corresponding bracket on the tool box.
Look at the selfie I took the other day- you can see the brackets and bolt....and I'm not proud of taking a selfie, but my wife was out of town and wanted to know what I was doing, so... ![]() Edited by HoughMade - 16 Jul 2019 at 11:20am |

Ok, I must not have the bolt on, as there is no bracket at the back of the tank. Here is another picture of my tank that would seem to confirm it is not the bolt on. Would you agree? Thanks, Dave

You may be able to find a radiator shop within reasonable distance, old style shop that can hot tank it and coat it so you can keep the original.
If you buy one from Dennis, buy with confidence as he is as good as they come!

Well, I am not sure the tank can be saved. As I mentioned, for some reason there are several pin size holes in the top and the metal is thin and flexible like a pop, or beer, can. Really strange. Does look like Dennis has the correct replacement, but I am going to a couple of shows over the next couple of weeks, including Hutch, and was trying to save a little on shipping. We'll see. Thanks for the input. Dave
