Hello everyone, been along time reader of this Forum, lots of great info on here.  I want to know what you all think of the following tractor,  I found a 1973 Allis 200, original owner 3100 hrs, rebuilt motor by dealer about two yrs ago due to a cracked block from weather conditions, it has around 150hrs on new motor, one new rear tire other is only 50 percent, comes with front factory weights, duals with all the mounting hardware, 3 pt is all there and PTO seems to work fine, all sheet metal is in great shape,  had a cab but it has been taken off and put behind the shop.  Is there any thing I should be aware of with this tractor or try before I buy it, I drove it around the farm and up and down the road for almost an hr today. I can get it bought for 6,500 bucks, Everyrhing works and ran great, just looking for some advice, thanks for your time...

for 6500 does it come with any type of warranty on the dealer rebuild engine also is there any thing that seams loose or sloppy how much wear does the draw bar hole show are the brakes right there and lots of adjustment left  are all things i look at depending on what you were looking to do with the tractor if you did not need that much horse power i know a fella south of me that has a d 17 series 4 with a fresh overhaul from top to bottom and a 400 series all hydraulic loader for 7500 witch i think is a great deal for all the work stuck into the tractor! but if you need the ponies if you could post a pic of the tractor maybe someone from this site could send you a pic of there 200 tractor and what they paid you could use it as a bargaining chip i don't now about 6,500 would have to see pics of all 4 sides and hear her run i now for 6500 there are a lot of nice Allis tractors out there and dealers always mark the prices up on every thing to pay for there over head cost if it came with a warranty on the motor like till its past the brake in stage that is worth some pieceShocked of mind to though hard to say need pictures.

You might wanna hurry and get it bought, there is a fella over on new ag talk asking about a tractor that sounds very similar! (I have a sneaking suspicion you are one and the same person looking for information, I am just being a smart aleck!)
Did all the 200s have dual speed PTO? If this one has it and some don't that would add value, I think. A good set of duals aren't chicken feed either! I don't know, but it seems that any piece of decent used equipment has increased in value recently. Keep in mind what an in-frame overhaul costs these days, and with a little luck, you won't be needing one for a very long time. If there are documents on the overhaul, and some kind of a warranty with it, I think I would be getting serious about buying it, but that is just me. It seems that any time I take time to ponder a deal someone else swoops in and beats me to it. It has the grill piece on it, that is worth $500 in the right crowd!
edit-I realize now that the above photo is not the same tractor we are mulling over. The one in the photo is a nice looking unit, though!
One other thought, at 6500 are you getting close to the current value of some of the 7000 tractors? A 7030 or 7040 might be more HP than you need, but you would have much better braking and weather protection. (too much power???!?-there really is no such thing!)

If it weren't for the last minute, I wouldn't get anything done!

Dont sound too bad , but just my opinion the 200,s were the worst for gear jump out , and getting into gear smoothly - they have great engines , but the trannys and brakes are terrible , series 2 xt,s with the big rear are the best find , jmo

If the tractor is as good as it looks it would bring 9000+ off the dealers lot here.
