Guys there is a allis 160 coming up for sale near me and I would like to know the good or bad of these tractors. Do they have a high and low tranny,I know that they were built in France and have a 10 forward and 2 reverse but have never been around one. Thanks Gary

Yes, industrial version of the 3.152 perkins diesel - 2 stage clutch - high low - the lever just above the clutch - only issue is the hyd pump- sometimes looses prime and will not pick up w/o bleeding. Parts almost non existent.  Rock solid as tractors go  - just getting long in the tooth.

My best friend has one with over 7,000 hours on it. Says its the best rake and sprayer tractor he has ever had. Very dependable.

Tractor data lists the first 4110 built as the one sixty and the last 1487 as the 160. What is the difference if any? Thanks Gary

The only difference that I know of was they went from cream colored accent on the One Sixty to black accents on the later 160.

Hydraulic systems had a couple variations on the filters and plumbing. The steering set up could be either full hydraulic or tie rod mechanical linkage.  Just depends on serial number and version of the tractor.  AGCO parts books has a good break down of the differences.

1970 - 74  didn't publish year models that I can find in a quick search , maybe others can.   There were standard, LCG (low center gravity) Basic and Intermediate models.
Most had Power steering  Basic and intermediate were non power steering Std and Lcg had it.     The decals , to the best of my memory had One Sixty written our in 70-72 73-74 had black stripe with 160 in numerals. Two different hyd filters systems.
