Most all here have heard my po, po, miserable me stories, well I have to admit I am impressed by those that do not suffer with the female type as I and as seen with my brothers as well now my own nephews where they have spoken to their sisters and female counterpart cousins as to NOT being the death of a party.

Actually had a group hug phone call with my two brothers and their associated boys as a kind of family Man Time get together called Face Time, none of the women's were allowed BTW.

Older brother noted some aspects of womanhood as I see in my wife and then the others involved piped up to beat that same horse.  Do not know how we all managed(Including younger brother THREE Times married) to find women allergic to fun.

My own honey is as typical, I try to align for a vacation period, set up a route, sights to see, timing to hotels or cabins, extracurricular activities etc. for WEEKS to MONTHS prior to a trip or adventure where when ask for inputs get that 'Just line stuff up all will be great' responses.  Day before trip I get the I cannot be ready in a day, I have not even picked out clothes, you aren't giving me time, I have a migraine, I cannot think like you do, what of the pets, I do not want to go now stuff.  Nephews and younger brother, recited those symptoms TO THE LETTER from their given spouses and gal friends.  Older brother and I have adopted same practice, give them ample warning then day of and still not ready look at them as WE load up and kiss bye bye, they then get off the pot or as in a few instances end up at home alone with the dog.

Anyone else have these issues or are we the proud, the few, the only 'Lucky' ones?

Nope!  She knows when it's time to go, it's time to go.  She'll start packing two weeks before the GO date.  I even got it to where she loads most everything in the car!

Now, if we are going somewhere local, she'll ask me what time are we leaving and I'm lucky if we leave only an hour late.   I have been sneaking in a little time adjustment so we leave closer to my time, but it's still a problem!  I'm getting to old to fight it so I've learned to just role with it!

I'm lucky I guess.  I ask her if she wants to go and she says; "no, you can go by yourself".  But HER vacation consists of going to Beau Rivage in Louisiana someplace with our daughter.  I'd go for the food, but they go to gamble.....and lose.

The boys and I cried in our whiskey last night discussing this, seems the most of us are fast becoming roomies only to the little women, sad around here anymore.

And it never failed either that within a few hours of a trip all the hubbub, kicking and cussing all the way out the drive was over and she would settle back to enjoy the trip, tell me such as 'We Need to do this More Often' and the like as we got home.

Sadly I write a Journal of our trips, I keep a hard printed copy on a desk and a editable version on my PC so as I remember slight tidbits and small laughs or surprises I edit them in, maybe change the page in the hard copy.  I do that so the wife can read to remember as she is slowly slipping, short term started about four years ago, long term started last year.  I dare say I will likely not be remembered so well in five or so.  Hard to deal with some days but does happen.

Ted, there is a Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi, don't know about one in  Louisiana. Got a neighbor that used to go to the casinos in  that area, said he would lose about $600 in a week but he had gotten to know the management and got free rooms and free meals (they do have some great buffets). Said it was about the cheapest vacation he could take.

If it is going to the beach or the mountains she just wants to know when we are leaving. When we had a camper she loved doing that also. Now if it is a farm show, tractor show, etc. she tells me to go have a good time and she will watch the house. Since we have her 94 year old mother living with us now our traveling is very limited.

Well,,,Shameless,,,you ARE one of the fortunate few that wount up with one of those life long "Partners" that want to be "Partners",,and I envy you,,!!Clap  Even tho we have been together for 52 years, we never really shared very many outside activities except for the first 10 years or so, We did the camping thing with the kids until she didn't care to go any more and huntin and fishin was always a male type thing with the 5 boys. Her big thing was "Shopping" which I hate,,,! These days with her in a wheel chair,,,,just not too many things to go do and certainly no traveling,,,You're a lucky man.
I completely understand Dave's frustrations,,but have fount that there ain't too much you can do to change a woman's mind and it ain't fun tryin either,,,,,

I have heard seen and lived both scnerios. With the same wonderful woman too.
In our early younger years she had things ready to go when it was time to take the kids on vacation as meager as it was.
She basically did what I wanted for 40 years, following me around!
Now we are older, wiser have more funds, more time, but our health and ambition is not the same as it was.
Regards,
Chris

I can see the reasoning most have put into responses, thanks all.  Been a long time stored up as to all the boys in my family expressing themselves as I noted.  Thought at first was normal but hear all the guys and see so many that do not get this type response from the better half.  May have something to do with the little women as to depression, may be in part that desire for home body to just be care taker or be a hormone change who knows.  Just know all too many that suffer thru these type days as we in my family are and deal with it rather than the big "D" expecting the rest of the women out there to be similar/same different day different person.

We had fun younger, we did do stuff on the spur, that only lasted around three years where something changed, could plan stuff and be shot down at point of committal  and was not me.  I still just don't get it, why she(and the others) has to be so indeterminate to defensive then when forced to capitulate all is fine, just do not get it.

Have noticed it has crept into friends of the little woman here and to the other wives in my extended family, where they make plans with their own friends to shut them down day of or day before as just cannot get into what they had planned or fear or something else.  Wife did that just last Satu'rday, Nephew stated his did similar last week as did another nephew and brother as of last month.

I had much the same problems the first time around but I finally managed to get out of that situation. Remarried 21 years ago to my present partner, we did the camper thing for a few years but eventually bought more land and animals, living on the farm with no neighbors was a better "getaway" than camping. The sheep took up all our spare time for 8 years, but we enjoyed the work. Last year was our 20th anniversary, so I suggested a trip to Paris - I don't care for Paris, but she had never been there. I made all the travel arrangements and she did the hotel and touring setups. Worked out well, we had fun and best of all she never wants to go back. Perfect. And I finally got to visit Jim Morrisons grave!
cheers,
Creek
Have spacesuit, will travel

Current conditions limit as to doing anything distant, I do understand, yet last weekend I tried to get the wife out for a early morning scooter ride, all was good until I had the bike out on the drive where got a "I really do not want to go out", then as I piddled in the shop come noon I got a visit so we could get cleaned up and go out get a bite to eat to get out of the house for awhile.  Never know what will come up next, flips like a flag in the wind.

You're right Hubert!! Thumbs UpClap (bet the wife doesn't say that often)  It IS in Biloxi.  They go over to Louisiana to see a friend and eat some place that has a seafood buffet.  Thanks for the geography lesson!  Although I do well just to remember the "Beau". LOL

DMiller, I DO think it is some kind of hormonal thing.  WE don't have that problem and don't want it either!!!!!  Mood swings, depression at times, changing your mind, ALL those little things that they do.  You've gotta learn to just ignore it or flow with it.  I learned to just ignore it and say yes dear......it's a lot better for my sanity.
