Spend a little time looking up AGCO in YAHOO finance, you may find some very interesting information, like share price, insider roster insider transactions, and who is tractor and farm equipment ltd anyway. I have little good to say about agco and their treating of Allis and Allis people, but they do have the parts our older tractors need and often they are competitive.

Offensive as this salary may seem, it's small compared to CEOs in the financial "services" industry, and if you want to get really irritated, look up the executive compensation for the health insurance industry and pharmaceutical exec's.

Stop and think how long it would take YOU to earn that much money and how much WORK you would have to do. It's a shame that all most farmers do is work for the equipment manufactures. Their sales may go down at times but their HIGH profit margins stay the same no matter what commodity prices are. I'm selling feeder calves for 30% less than a year ago. How many people, stores businesses or manufactures could survive that kind of cut in salary and survive? As already stated NOBODY at ANY job is worth that kind of money!!! Personally I would like to see all the BIG AG manufactures go broke. They have been "Hose Banging" the farmer for years.

Sickening. He isn't making any decisions that any of the rest of us couldn't make. Probably, we could do it better. On top of that, he probably has an entire staff of people that do all of the leg work and research for him. The share holders should all take a long hard look at how overpaid all of the CEOs are, regardless of the corporation, and demand some changes. I think that some of those huge salaries would help the dividend checks if they were spread around some. I wonder how the salaries of the engineers, designers, and laborers compare. A CEO wouldn't be worth diddly if it weren't for the people that make things happen. Ok, I guess I probably got a little too worked up on that, but I think it is something that has crossed all of our minds from time to time. |

Rich people are good at throwing parties, especially if they can take it as a tax write-off.
I propose an AGCO past and present equipment party. The AGCO Family Jamboree. Maybe at Jackson MN facility. Bring all the new and old stuff, an "Orange Spectacular" type gathering of Allis, Massey, Oliver, White, Minneapolis-Moline, Gleaner. Ag and construction. AGCO can bring all the new stuff- Challenger and Massey Ferguson and combines. Get 600 heritage tractors and implements, plus a hundred new models. Show the world that AGCO is our roots and has a bright future. Plus I like free beer. Maybe they can support with gas money for exhibitors. Yeah, a $3 million dollar show party. |

Fellas. This is swaying close to political but if you thought you were going to get rich when you started farming your nuts. Kind of like school teachers complaining about how much they make. I'm not necessarily defending that high salary. But Start your own tractor manufacturing company if you think you can manage one so much better. you ought to be striving to Do well in your own lives rather than tearing down the guys that are. I meet some very wealthy people in my line of work and most of them are good people who work hard. I try to learn how they think rather than be jealous of them. And I can still get parts for my favorite old tractors so I will not complain. End of my rant.

No. I don't know any. And the truth is he may not have earned it and doesn't deserve it. But that's not for me to decide or judge. My dad has always told me don't envy rich people, work hard to become one. I think we have a problem with wealth envy in this country and that's a big part of our problem. You will never hear me criticize a ceo of a free traded unregulated company, If that company is surviving and making a profit without the help of taxpayer dollars it is of no concern to me how much their ceo makes. if you don't like that CEO boycott their company. If they are not running it well, the company will fail. Then it won't cost you a dime. But it does irritate me to hear people run a guy down. Maybe he hasn't earned it and doesn't deserve it. But I doubt he stole it either. That's for his maker to judge, not me.
I know some of us on this forum have done well. How many hire farm hands or neighbor kids. I do. I am taking over my dads farm now. I guess some could say my dad gave it to me. I'm not rich by any means but I probably do better than most in my area. My dad paid my way through engineering school. And I worked and ran a lawn care business the whole time. I ran that business and hired employees. I paid them well and I sold that business for decent money when I graduated. I work a full time job now and I farm evenings and weekends. I didn't see my 8 month old boy yesterday because I was in the office at 6 yesterday morning and I was in an 8070 at 9 last night. it would piss me off if those neighbor kids that I hire were saying I didn't earn what I have. It's easy to look up the ladder and say he doesn't need that much. But just remember. There are people looking up the ladder at you too. What do you want them saying about you. I choose to figure out how to get up the ladder. Not tear it down. Edited by wekracer - 30 Mar 2016 at 8:11am |

I'm not a full time farmer, but I'm following what you're saying. I think the problem is that so many people have jobs where you're not compensated by the amount of work you put in or demonstrated ability, but rather the skills people think you have. So they accept these multi-million dollar CEOs because they think that person has skills that warrant such compensation and do great things. There's always a news story of some CEO getting let go because they have no idea what they are doing. In fact, my office job, the higher you move up, the less work you do, but you're expected to be experienced. Well, there are plenty of folks who moved up and only know where the coffee pot is. |

The net affect of this whole issue bout these obscene salaries these folks draw,,, is that at the end of the day,,,it IS the consumer AND even worst,,the employees that helped propel these kind of salaries, that suffer the most. Their rewards for workin their posteriors off,, is losing their jobs to others in some foreign lands. I fully understand that their main job description is to make whatever decision it takes to turn a profit for the company. It just will Never sit right with me when they DO make those decisions that hurt so many Americans just to pad THEIR nest egg. |
