Are quick detach's universal? My neighbor has a 40 HP Kubota with a quick detach bucket. I'd like to add the same set up to my 615 so that we can share buckets, forks, spears, etc.

Does anyone know or have a link to what I should buy? Or is the Kubota design not a very good one?

There is a 'universal quick attach', my Kubota BX23s has that. The 'trick' is to get  the loader portion that will fit onto your tractor. After that almost any skidsteer/quick attach compatible implement will latch on. If you've got a set of extra remotes up front you can use them to engage/disengage the locking levers so never have to get off the tractor !
