I am changing all the fluids in my new to me '78 7020. The bypass oil filter is 74061714 and AGCO wants 270$ !!! The local filter specialists would sell one for 60$ except they can't find one by Baldwin or Fleetguard. They claim the filter is obsolete. Does anyone know of a filter brand that might be in stock?

We take them off and plug the lines at the block. If customer insists we find one off an 8070 i.e. and use the 74036791 filter and used orfice to restrict flow. The OEM bypass is so messy to change.

I also did a cross ref check - Agco is cheaper than any I found - if someone finds one please post - All variants are $100 plus...

270 is in Canada and is in canadian dollars.
Sounds like blocking off the lines is a decent solution.

Whenever we eliminated one of those, we always told the customer to change the oil every 100 hrs instead of 150 hrs.

Take it off. They have ruined more engines than they have saved. Blow top gasket out and you have lost a engine. MACK
