Hey everyone. I restore a quite a lot classic cars specifically Olds 442 66-71 and we have services for other males and historical services like Pontiac historical and Marti reports for Fords as well as some for mopars and Buick’s. I restore Oldsmobiles and unfortunately Oldsmobile’s records were all destroyed in a fire in the 70s (so the myth goes) and therefore no historical services to obtain items like original window stickers or build sheets
Does Allis Chalmers or any private companies offer historical information like purchase orders or the tractor equivalent of a build sheet for AC pre 1970 tractors. Info like how it was equipped and or where it was shipped to and sold from. I think it would be interesting to say the least. Thanks and appreciate the information |

From what I'm told when the German company, Klockner Humboldt Deutz, bought out Allis they pretty much destroyed all those records. Only records that I've heard saved were saved by one or two employees digging out what they could from a dumpster. The records you are looking for are probably lost forever.

That's quite disappointing that they dumped all those records.

That is a shame. The person that bought the rights to literally junk dated paperwork and dumpster files from Pontiac went on to create Pontiac historical services and made millions of dollars and it helped authenticate a lot of cars before the internet and all the info online. To this day they have pretty much every window sticker and build sheet up until the 90s. Not sure what it cost but may be around 50 dollars per document, do the math, I bet Pontiac wishes they held onto that stuff.
GM of Canada and Canada built cars whether Chevy or olds who have no historical documentation service for the muscle car era cars has kept the record for every build car in Canada as well as cars built and sent to Canada so they are a savior but very few of the high dollar cars like 442s and Ss chevelles went there so it’s hit or miss and they charge to search your vin. |

We are still destroying what is left. Hard to find a tractor or equipment pre 1960 that is rebuilt to the way it came from the factory.

I wonder why Klockner Humboldt Deutz would destroy assets on purpose? At a minimum they could of held a garage sale on the West Allis Grounds and sold those items there. Apparently, they were not in the business to make any money...

Deutz did what any other company done and will do ,they bought in to a company that was in trouble .They where looking at making money , not saving something that was non profit to them . Who would pay the bill for people to take over that task at that time for a company that FAILED .
If you think its not about money ,IT's ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. Who would of bought this Allis Chalmers information ( if had the chance ) and spend the time giving it away for NON PROFIT . Just because something is not understood dose not mean it is wrong . |

Didn't J. I. Case (Tenneco Company) Saved all IH records when they bought out IH? I know you can find plant production and shipment reports.

Deutz is a very arrogant company. They thought they could force Allis-Chalmers customers to accept Deutz equipment and that ugly shade of green. Deutz saw the A-C line of equipment as inferior so saw no value in the records or anything else that was part of A-C. Deutz only wanted the dealer network and the parts facility at Batavia, IL. Thought they could use the dealer network to shove ugly, green Deutz equipment down the throats of the American farmer. It didn't turn out well for Deutz, and, unfortunately, was the end of the A-C farm equipment line.
