Why would you want to do that?  More trouble than it's worth.
Most problems can be solved with the proper application of high explosives.

A 12 volt power supply like generator or alternator, some new light bulbs, a coil that will work with 12 volts, a diode for the alternator so you can shut the engine off when you want to, or an idiot light set up with a key switch ignition to a solenoid to take the place of the diode so you can shut the engine off when you want and a new 12 volt batry.

With the alternator you will have to replace the light switch and with a generator you might need a voltage regulator(some hide this in the toolbox)and a new light switch.

You may want a bigger ammeter with the alternator in place of Steve's uninformative voltmeter.

You guys are too much.  You know everything.
Listen closely to what Steve says.  He is our resident electrical expert here.  He has an IB so I know his kit would work well.
Good Luck!

Years ago I liked to convert 6 volt systems to 12 volt, due to slow cranking, and short battery life.

Now I have a "smart" charger, "battery maintainer" (several brands available) on all of my 6 volt tractors.
I have it on all the time it is not in use. They crank great, and batterys last years.

The problem is self discharge, it hapens to all of them, but with a 6 volt any discharch is enough to cause poor cranking. If you go to 12 volt and don't use it often, it may start better, but you still have self discharge which causes sulfation which causes shorter battery life.

You will be a lot more happy staying with the 6 volt and fixing it that it work's ,you will not be happy when you start breaking the starter drives and chewing up ring gears on flywheel .Just my 2 cents of what I see happen's with alot that where changed over on B ,C and CA's.

My WD was converted to 12 volt before I bought it. It had a pull switch added to make or break voltage to the coil. I removed that switch and am using the original light switch. I removed the resistor and ohmed the terminals to get the right ones. Now I pull the switch out one click to run and the second position will turn on the lights.
The joy is in the journey.
