 Topic: AC fork lift

A friend of mine called me today and said where he works they have 2 AC fork lifts that are for sale. I havent seem them but they are propane and at least one runs with near new tires. I was wondering what they would weigh and if they would be worth 600 each. He said maybe Cheaper. Will post pic's if I get them. Thanks

I've got a Buda diesel powered A-C forklift here and couldn't do a thing without it! It will lift 5,000 # and someone told me forklifts weigh about 1,000# more than they can lift.
Can anyone confirm or deny that 'myth' ?
ps, don't try running indoor(small wheeled) forklifts outside on earth !

Any forklift that runs is worth $600
I have 2 one that weighs about 3000 lbs and the other that weighs about 8000 lbs
weight depends on what model it is.

I found out it is model fp30 3000lb capacity new drive tires both run good. Maybe look at them today.

From an engineering math standpoint, one cannot infer a 'rule of thumb' regarding weight and capacity of any forklift- Geometry of the machine's lift and configuration can make it vary substantially. you should look for a sales data sheet to get the actual number. My Clark IT-60 is rated for 6000lbs at 48" load center, but factory weight was 18,000lbs... This is because the mast can reach to 30 feet. Forklifts for unloading sod may be able to pick 6,000lbs or more, but only lift it about 6', and weigh about 2500lbs or so... it's all about geometry.
Is there a dataplate on the machine? Frequently the dataplate will indicate not only capacity, but load center, maximum height, and machine weight. It has been pretty common to do so, particularly with smaller liftrucks, because trucks and loading docks are commonly damaged by liftrucks carrying loads into trucks- the truck frame can accept the weight of pallets, but they can't support the weight of a mostly-loaded deck, with one more pallet coming in under a 10,000lb machine.
