Good Afternoon AC Team: Am looking to replace the hand lever spring on the Power Director of an AC D14.
Looks to be pretty straight forward - remove hand lever, pull the release rod, install new spring and replace. Anyone been through this? Special steps to consider. Thanks in advance for any insights! ~ Orangeman Now if only I had a P/N for the spring - my old Operating Instructions and Parts Illustrations for the Model D14 Tractor does not list any part numbers....

On my D15 II and D17 III/IV there is a "steel spring roll pin" or "slotted steel spring pin" thru the handle area of the high/low range lever that connects the top of the release rod (the part that moves up/down) with the knob section your thumb presses down to shift. There is actually two parts to the up/down release rod.....the part you see at the top for your thumb and the bottom which follows the curve of the high/low range lever that sets the travel lock (high/neutral/low). There are holes in the hand grab area of the range lever to access the "roll pin" so you can punch out the old "roll pin" to remove the top/thumb knob section and access the spring that is inside the hand grab area. I don't have any info on the spring, and the roll pin should be a standard issue at a machine shop

The neutral button spring ??? Never seen one break, but I did have one apart recently (for another reason). There is a small roll pin up at the top that gets driven out (there is an access hole) and then separate the wire rod from the button. Spring falls out when the button is pulled up and out. I'd prefer to do this with the lever off the tractor and on a bench with a vise.

All: Thanks for the excellent insights! Am planning to pull the power director lever to work on the spring. Easier to do on the workbench.
Enjoy the Weekend! ~ Orangeman BTW Jay - thanks for the P/N's much appreciated.
