Used my new to me AC conditioner on our orchard grass fields Saturday. With so much rain lately the hay had become very tall which leads to long stalks of tuff hay. So I ran my conditioner after the AC 390 haybine had cut it and was really impressed how it processed the hay to make it cure better as well as making it a softer hay for the cows to eat. It never rapped up as I had heard they tend to do. Looking forward to cutting and conditioning at the same time with my WD and new to me 82S mower in the next few weeks.

Nice set up.
I talked to a guy the other day that has a modern version hay conditioner and does that to. Cuts with discbine then runs through hay conditioner. Mostly alfalfa.
I think you had success with no wrapping is because it was in a nice windrow from haybine. Good luck

I agree with you Mike, windrow definitely helped. Coming behind my 82S mower may be a different story. The cool thing about having my mower mounted while just using the conditioner was all I had to do was disconnect the pto from the mower at the mule drive at the rear of the tractor. Very good idea from AC.

That conditioner is exactly one I had many years ago. That SOB would wrap constantly in waist high fescue and orchard grass that was cut with sickle mower. The day it left the farm was a great day for sure!!!! I learned to keep a BIG SHARP knife and be prepared to use some foul language. Good luck with it!!!

Dad had good luck with his AC crimper behind his D17 with 82 mower, but he was pretty strictly an alfalfa grower for our dairy. He then got the 390 which was great!

I often run the hay I want to dry bale through the conditioner after cutting with the discbine. Of course my crimper is green and never wraps up.LOL Tom

in all the years I’ve been using the Allis conditioner it has never wrapped up. I’ve had mud get caked up on the roller but never hay wrapped around. So want would cause the hay to wrap around the rollers?

Since it hasn’t happened to me, my guess is it gets between the end of the rollers and the bearing?

It would wrap on the metal roller. Any side or middle. It's been awhile sense IV used one.
