Just wondering what your thoughts are on the potential horsepower of these two engines for an 8000lb mod farm class, 3100 rpm, 2.75" charger inlet.  I know that the Ford has a larger head, and inline Simms pump, which could be an advantage.  Any thoughts?

I thought the Simms wasn't a very good pump. I have no experience with them though. Back in the late 60's and early 70's the 426 was king in tractor pulls or so I'm told. Even diehard IH fans have told me that.

Right now, in this relatively new class, the IH 407 in a 1256 is the leader.

Use a Genesis 456 engine instead of the 401.

I forgot to mention that the cube limit is 410, so I would have to decube the 426.  It is just that AC would be my first preference, of course!
