Older tractor. Was having problems with it losing power and dying. It finally quit running. I checked the diesel filter and water seperator and both were filthy so I replaced them. I have attempted to bleed the system but still having problems. It will start up, run about 5 seconds and shut down. After a minute or so it will start up run about 5 seconds and shut down. Should I attempt more bleeding?

Loosen the screws on the side of the pumps timing window and let fuel slowly leak. See if it now stays running.

On my brothers 200 had to disconnect fuel line and with air compressor blow back into tank, no lips were going to unplug that.

I am going to do that next week. During the bleeding process diesel fuel was coming out but it appeared to be very low volume. Could very well be caused by a partial blockage in the line. Thanks for the reply!! Don

as Dr said, return is plugged up with breaking down flex ring material. Extremely common issue!

I needed to cut my cover crop from last year. I had knee problems. My 2018 left total knee replacement was infected. Found out December 2019, the knee was getting loose. March 23rd old out and spacer installed, iv in my arm 12 weeks and new knee installed June 1st. Just getting around the yard. So I replaced the water (fuel) and fuel filters, blew the fuel lines out and checked the fitting with the glass ball. It ran great for 1 hour, was cutting weeds 7' tall with my 14' woods rotary mower. Then it quit. Will check the timing cover next. What does it cost to rebuild the pump. Thanks Joe

Many of the big shops can run up about to $1500+, and many still just put a flex ring back in them. In my shop the DB pumps typically run around $700-900 and I put in the new style EID retainer to keep the flex ring problem from happening again. There's some out there doing pump repairs cheaper, but they are not doing what I am. Many times those places end up messing things up making an even more costly rebuild. So beware of that issue. I don't care if I do the job or not, I just hate seeing people get screwed over, or call me wanting me to fix their "rebuilt" pumps lol!

I had the same problem with my 200 and changed filters and the prime pump and it was a tee on the bottom of the tank where noone drained it for years... you could also take off the line there and it should come out quick, messy job but it gums up over time.
