This should never happen if you have proper working lift arm latches. I believe this plow was bolted to the lift arms like the pin hitch plows were. The lift arm latches being spring loaded should release and drop the whole plow before it can flip up.

Don't try this at home. Severe headaches are likely and fractured skulls possible.

Many years ago when I was a young lad, a neighbor rented our few acres for a time. All of his snap coupler AC plowing tractors had a short piece of chain from frame rail to frame rail under the plow snap coupler forward frame. When questioned about it, he sited this exact incident had happened to him once.

You are correct about the lift arms being the correct latches Morley

One more good thing to do is replace the snap coupler spring in the bell hitch, they will get weak and you will not know it. The springs are cheap from agco. Don |

The latches are not a sure thing . Happened more than once with my dad on D 14 . Seat forward probale saved him . I do remember putting in latch spring once . If you put in a spring put a dowel through hook and spring then put up in bell , take pin and push through pushing out dowel. If you don,t it can be a real headake.

When I pull a snap coupler plow, I chain the eye to the hitch to keep that from happening. Some have been killed this way.

Since the "operator" is not in the picture, I presume he walked back to the house to get clean underwear!

Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

I think that was Craig from MO that owned this tractor. I have also wondered what would happen to the pin hitch plow if the cotter key came out and the pin slid out???

This also happened to me 20years ago..... Did not at the time have the snap coupler bell and hook, mine had a loop with pin through front of the plow hitch eye, top of pin broke off. had standard lift arm latches which the plow used as a pivit point. THANK GOD for the hand clutch or I wouldn't be writing this. Lost a few teeth and hide off my back and a couple cracked ribs. after that I installed a safety chain.
