Just curious, does your factory block heater work?

Most ag supply stores have short and tall ether cans. The block heater on my 6060 is GREAT! In about 15 minutes time, it will start easily!

AGCO Ether is good stuff as well, and available in the short cans. 79014649

Ed, glad you chimed in on this. Isn’t either harmful to the pump? Engine gets addictive to it? Dad used either in the beginning when he bought the 6060 new because it didn’t come with a block heater. I think that became standard later on. It was an option in 1981. He noticed it became harder to start a few years later so he installed a factory block heater. Problem solved, plug it in 30 minutes before use and she is good to go.

I could be wrong but I don't believe ether is a problem on it's own. It is the way it it administered that becomes a problem. Just enough to get it lit,not a bath.

carefully administered it's no problem. When someone over does it and the engine rattles like crazy, or locks up from the ether is when it's a problem. Fine mist is what we use to get the pulling tractor going, it's not that the compression is really low, it's the fuel we use is cold blooded. At no point would ether hurt the pump though. Overdosing ether knocks the ring lands off the pistons. My puller pops right off on vp torq dx performance diesel fuel.

Thanks for the clarification, just seamed like it became harder to start after a few years of winter time starts. The 433 isn’t a easy starting engine below 55 degrees.

right now it's 34 Deg here and my F2 (14:1) is sitting in a corn field. I'll finish that field starting in an hour. I would never get it started without the ether injector.

It most likely got harder to start because it became used and had higher hours on it. A new diesel with higher compression starts better
