 Topic: 99 Dodge 3500 dually rear brakes

I replaced the brake lines on my 99 Dodge dually and twisted off a brake cylinder bleeder; gonna try an easy out but really doubtfull it will work , I did heat it some last night, hoping it just comes right out;; heres my question, if I have to get inside the drum do I have to pull the axle ?

No you do not have to pull the axle The drums are outboard set up the same as a highway truck uni-mount type. I would just replace the wheel cylinder you will likely find it is fairly cheap for the work involved in getting the bleeder out. On mine it is so tiny it would drive me nuts doing it up in behind the spring bundle

No just lever been blead in the 14 years ive owned it the other side worked good, Thanks Amos, I see this now, now trying to get the drum off, wow it seems to be stuck tight

I got it off ! went to YouTube and some dude had a video of running them without wheels on- only one nut on ,, put it in 3 gear ran it and hit the brakes a few times, IT WORKED !

Make sure the parking brake isn't on holding the drum. Been there and it was pretty embarrassing

Yes you have to pull the axel. The brake drum is held to the drum buy the studs they have to be pressed out. Just pull the axle and the hub and drum come off together. I did my dually two years ago the new wheel cylinders were only around $10 each. It wasn't worth the effort to mess with them.

You may be able to bleed it just by loosening the brake line. I've seen that done before.

Ahhh good call John, makes sense,, I got it all together now , no pulling of the axle ,,no removing brake springs, it was a pretty easy deal actually
