I am looking for some insight on my mower. It is my second season with it and am always learning about its operation. I have one issue though that has been bothering me.
In the manual, they talk about the transport rod. I see how it is used when it is holding up the sickle bar but it doesn't say what to do with it when in use. The previous owner had it wired to the inner shoe lift rod and it bounces around sometimes rubbing on the drive belt. Most of the pictures in the manual show it removed. Am I to remove it?
The hook on the rod is facing forward on mine but the picture in the manual shows it to the rear. Is either position preferred? The PO rebuilt a lot of the unit and he may have put this rod on wrong.
Any guidance with this helpful.

I mounted mine, from a hole in the foot rest to one of the cultivator mounting bolts, on the left side of the tractor...

Same problem here with an 80R. I store the rod beside the clutch rod on a WD-45.

On an 80R the long Rod mounts along the L/H channel frame of the Mower. The hook end goes towards front of tractor, hooks over the end. The threaded 'J' goes through a bracket welded to the rear end. Then install the 'wing' nut.

I simply hang the rod on the fence where I start cutting and put it back on when I'm done.

I used to lay them on the ground next to the jug of ice water when I was using an AC mower,I'm not going to forget where the ice
water is located.
