The tach on my 8070 has been a little suspect the last year or two now as far as working sometimes and at other times it will just quit.  When the tach is showing rpm's the hr meter will always work also.  There will always be a noticable wiggle of the needle when you turn on the key, but then more times then not now it will not work.  I am ready to install a new tach this winter. but was just going to check here first if the symptoms I describe could be possibly something else.  Thanks

This is common, seem to recall guys saying it is the sender, not the tach.  Mine acted up for quite awhile just like that, it has been good all this year though, go figure.

There was a post last year about an aftermarket sending unit but I can't find it. If someone could repost that I'd appreciate it as my tach is doing the same thing.

The aftermarket sender is an Isspro R8932. It's available from Instrument Sales and Service for $50.89. 800-333-7976
