Hello, I purchased a 8070 off the internet LOL It's an '84 model and somebody along the way removed the entire manual primer off the injector pump and filled the hole with silicone.  This is a 45 degree fitting that threads into the pump on one end and the manual primer pump assembly threads on the other.  The parts book and the dealer both say this fitting is unavailable (part number 740630058, #5 on 8070 parts book page 74, 75).  Does anybody know where I might find one?  I've talked to a couple of pump rebuilders but they don't want to separate one from a pump which I understand.  I've been told that some Gleaner models used the same engine.  Would anyone know of a parts machine sitting around?  Thanks for the help.

Maybe. We have an injector pump out in the shed. It should be from a later N6.

I hoped I wouldn't need to go back out tonight, then my wife asked, "Did you get the mail today?" So I checked and our pump doesn't have the 45 elbow. I checked the 82 8050 and it does have it, while the 85  8070's don't. I don't see that you need the elbow. It looks like it only made it easier to work it.

Sorry you had to go out in the middle of the night.  I'll double check the clearance. Thanks.

With that elbow it seems like things vibrated loose over time, so they eliminated it. Without it, the primer wasn't as handy to use. I don't remember if the primer elbow elimination was done at the same time they re-routed the injector lines.

Upon rebuild I eliminate the elbow if it's even there. It just made it more convenient to pump the primer being out at an angle. There is one aftermarket primer I've used and it is shorter, looks like off a Bosch inline. You likely have more issues though, so if it works I'd leave well enough alone for now. I can assure you it will need attention eventually lol!

Oh, I have issues alright.

9CE1E246-7E72-4C6C-A933-DC029ACDB04B.jpeg

This is the previous owners fix. A piece of plastic clamped over the hole.

Under the plastic is a combination of aluminum foil and RTV silicone.

And as I suspected, under the silicone, not a single thread.

Does anybody have the rear case for this pump or should I just start over with a rebuilt?

Thanks for your help.

Sorry, I'm kind of new to this.  Don't know why that last pic is upside down.

When I rebuild those pumps, those really fine threads sometimes gall upon disassembly. I send the rear piece off and they put a new thread insert in. But, I only do that on a rebuild, I cannot sell pump parts separately. I'd imagine someone will have a good used one to sell you.

One last question for you.  The previous owner installed an electric fuel pump between the tank and the injector pump so I'm thinking this would really eliminate the need for the manual primer.  Rather than putting a thread insert in the case to screw in the primer, could I just tap the two small holes under the primer and put plugs in them?

Is there anything directly under those ports that I need to be careful of?

2 check valves down inside. Definitely not the preferred method. Hard to keep the chips from getting in.

I have a junked out N5 with a bad motor.  Wonder if that is the same pump.   I could look at it tomorrow.  If it'd work, you can have it for free.  Also have a junked out N6, but that motor was good. Some of the combine engines had a electric holley lift pump on them.  I put one on my 8070 also as it has problems losing its prime if it sits for a day. Didn't solve my problem either on it starting.

Sorry to take so long to reply. I’m a one man show and you know the saying about a one legged man in an a$$ kicking contest

The pump on my 8070 is an Ambec 100. If you have parts, I’d be more than happy to pay you for them since other posters aren’t impressed with my fix

May help may not but I had the same problem. After much trial and error I replaced the return line to the tank. Fixed it

i did look and the my N5 has a rosa pump and didn't see a primer.  Got me thinking as I don't remember what I did to prime the fuel system after changing the filters.  My parted out N6 has one, but I'd like to sell the whole motor as engine was great shape.  We just didn't use the combine anymore a couple years ago.

A lot of the IH engines use an injection pump that is very similar to that Allis pump. I can't recall exactly how their primer system works. It may be the same.

IH M100's are very similar, but they use 1/4" pipe fittings, the AC M100 uses O-Ring style fittings.

Since someone had already installed a pump between the tank and the injector pump, it seems the easiest fix for this problem turns out to be Aluma Bond.  Think JB Weld for aluminum.  I don't like JB Weld on aluminum because it expands/contracts at a different rate on aluminum than it does on steel and everything still leaks.  Thanks for everyone's input.
