8050 thermostat to intercooler bolts

   OK guys I am changing the thermostat housing to block gasket on my 8050. I planned on separating the housing at the intercooler but I am worried about stripping the threads out or breaking the bolts to the intercooler because they don’t want to move. Is this typical for them to be so tight? I have never had them out; when I rebuilt the engine a few years ago I just removed all of it as a unit. I could do the same thing but then I am looking at more work with the intercooler and other gaskets. My question is will these bolts come out without the above problems or should I go the other rout and remove the entire assembly.  Thanks in advance m rieger.

	I would take the hole thing off because gasket may be blown. MACK

	We ran into the same problem with our 8050. I think the housing is aluminum and if they didn't put anti-seize on the bolts they will be corroded in place. We broke the bolt off and ended up taking the whole thing off in order to get the broken bolt out. It looks like such a simple 5 minute job, maybe you'll have to heat the bolt heads a few times to get them to loosen up. The bolts are 5/16 dia so they can't take a whole lot of torque.

	Thanks guys I ended-up taking the whole thing off as a unit the same way I did when I rebuilt it. It is back together now and no leaks so far.. Thanks for the support. rieg
