Good compatibility with a CA?
Anything to watch for when buying one that's in working order?

The CA has the power to run the 80 series mowers and is a decent match; Light and nimble tractor for mowing. A consideration is that the trail mount may make the front end light when raised. I had a belly mount 80 series on a CA and loved it (except when it came time to install it or take it off, altho the concrete floor in the shop made the task easier). Could cut grass in 3rd gear; altho I preferred 2nd as I did not have the seat time to go faster.

The main thing is to check out the Twin Wheel Drive condition any up and down movement with the arms means the bearings are worn pretty good.Need to have NO slack in the cross arm where is attaches with the bushing to the sickle end.Also make sure the housing that bolts to the drive assembly that holds the cutter bar is TIGHT and stays tight getting loose and running it will cost big $$$$.They are good mowers used different versions of the Twin Wheel drives for years but they require everything in the drive mechanism be kept in top rate order and all bolts tight.Also keep a sharp as in new sickle blade assembly in the mower,a dull blade will be the source of many problems. I have never bought a sickle mower with a blade in it that I would consider sharp enough to go cut hay with.All that said since switching to New Holland 456 trailer mowers my life has been a lot easier in the hay field with a lot less wrenching on mowers.

I have a technical question on these mowers. What's the sickle speed? On the IH balanced head(a similar design concept) the true advantage is they run faster than the others.

The New Holland mower is a great mower. The Allis mower in it's day was the best hands down. Still rates up there in my opinion. We have mowed a bazillion acres with the AC mowers, even along side of the New Holland, they mow just as fast, do just as good a job. They do require some maintenance, but what doesn't with that much going on! JMHO Tracy

Saw one sell maybe five or six years ago in average shape but shedded, missing a bracket or something, it was an 80R (rear mount) if I remember right and it brought something like $750.

I ended up buying the 80t
I'm having issues cropping pictures small enough ,I'll figure it out...
Any cropping pictures tips?
Where can I get new teeth for this( there marked 700 I think)

Sounds like you need some new sickle sections. I converted mine to bolt on sections. You have to buy new tall hold down clips to do this. It sure makes it easy to install new sections when you do this. I get my sections and bolts at the local family center. You will want to buy chromed sections. They are far tougher than black steel sections. You may need the new spacers that go under the top of the sickle. These keep the sickle in correct reference with your guards. Good luck with your mower.

Will this set up ( model CA/ 80t require a overrun clutch same as a brush hog?)

in a word, NO. ORC is only needed on rotary mowers, with a flywheel effect. Step on the clutch with a SB mower, and it quickly stops, compared to a rotary mower...
