Does anyone have any pictures of an 8.3 in a 8000 series they could share? Thinking of doing one and some pics would help? Front motor mount and anything else in the front would be great.
Thanks Randy

Had a former A.C. mechanic put an 8.3 in an 8050 13 years ago. Ours was the first one, he did a few more since then. I know there was a notch cut out of the front left side rail (not sure why). Also I believe he had to make a 180 degree exhaust pipe so the original hole in the hood could be used. Made a heck of a tractor out of it, still going strong in the neighborhood.
Orange & Silver still earnin their keep on the farm: R62, Series IV D17 nf, 185, 6080, 6080 fwa, 220, 1968 D21, 7045, DT240.

Yes, i think any pics of the front motor mount and the front end would help. I did talk to Dick Lutz, I think thats his last name, seemed like he knew his stuff. Was hoping to find one half way close to me to check out. Thanks. Email is farmer7@juno.com

Does the Cummins 8.3 being swapped need an aftercooler like those in industrial applications or will any donor truck engine do just as well?

I got the tractor split today. What needs to be done to check out the power director clutch, if any thing?

Get a service manual and follow instructions...pull the PD out and take it apart.Check steels for warp and plates for wear. Most likely don't need hard parts.Buy seal kit and put it back together. Not difficult but has to be done RIGHT!

I know of a 7580 and 8050 both powered by an 8.3 and installed with Hunley kits. Owners say that the 8.3 made them real tractors.

That adapter plate is pretty pricey but unless you have the proper tools it would be hard to make in most shops.

Both sides of the frame need notched. Left side for the front engine cover and right side for the oil filter. If I stop by dad's tonight I'll take some pics of our 7080. You will not regret doing this. On an 8000 series you will have to reroute the exhaust to make it come out the factory location.

You do not need to notch the frame on either side.
