Hello again, I need a couple of bits of info from 7G (A) owners. One, I'd like to know if this loader had bolt- on or weld- on front skid plate, that is, the one under the radiator. Mine is welded on, and makes it nearly impossible to get to the shovel hydraulic pump lines. Will radiator removal help? Next, I'd like to know common part no.s for the fan belts. Mine has timing cover gear driven belt drive pulley with the sliding bar adjuster. I bought this loader last week, it sat for years, and after changing fluids and filters, it fired up and purred like a kitten.

Yes the front short pan is weld on frame and the 2 belt fan drive # should be 4349777

That's good info, gemdozer. So what to do to remove pump, pull radiator? I just need to change the pressure hose, but I can only one hand it (and I've got long arms) and those 3/4 head bolts are smoking tight! Maybe I can drill an access hole in the side of the front nose and get a long extension and a wobble on it. Do you know the commercial part number (Napa, Car quest, etc.) for those belts? Thanks again, Corey

the hd7 nose should have 2 bolts each side and lift the loader and make security block and remove the small bolt each side nose and lose the big one with a 3/4 ratchet and pull the top nose in front and you should have some room for remove your bolts.

I'll update you guys as I feel it is polite to give some of these stories an ending. Once I got my main pressure line to front pump changed and replaced a few other pop up leaks, I cleaned out the injector pump circuits and drained about 20 gallons of black fuel out of the tank. Changed filters, removed all drain plugs in the trans, oil pan, final drives, etc. to check for water (there was plenty) and topped off the fluids to test. Installed two hot batteries and hit the starter button about a hundred times and finally got that old starter to hit. Cranked the engine for about 10 second and then suddenly that old 7000 just sprang to life and sat there and shook for a few seconds, and then purred like a kitten. Oil pressure good. Pulled shovel handles and up went the boom! I felt like a superhero with a new toy. At any rate, after a couple of weekends of fiddling and adjusting, I was able to drive it and everything works good. I'm now able to knock down trees and move most anything I please. This loader had sat outside for 8-9 years uncovered. So my total investment is around 5,000$ and I'm gonna paint it as soon as I can choose the right shade of yellow. Thanks for all your help. Corey in KC

got a real good loader there by the look of the pics Doc. Sprockets look new, which signals good track chains. Belts we use down here are Gates 20A 1295, or Dayco 74349715 42-0399 if thats any help to ya. Wish I could find a 7G like that down here.

Thank you for the picture. I find it interesting that your HD7 is different than mine. My s/n is HD7G 23776. Is yours newer or older than mine?

Mine, I think was made in 1961. I'll check the number tonight and let you know the number. I can tell there was some mod made to the throttle linkage. They eliminated the speed governor linkage from the tranny. I have a lever throttle at my left foot. I'll say one thing, they built every part of these machines out of plenty of iron.

get a guard for the radiator before you do to much work with it , somethiing sturdy even if it isnt correct , a good heavy expanded metal grid or even some walk decking material and welded to frame . radiators are expensive to replace when a branch or something pokes through the core .

Hi Doc
Alot of people disconnected the ground speed governor from the throttle; and just left the throttle wide open and used the decelerator to control ground speed; like most other crawlers. Later machines did not have ground speed governor, or the push start pump. Certainly does away with alot of excess needless plumbing. My 6ep also had it all removed.

I have the tube grill installed now, but the tractor came with a bunch of sheet metal (plate) parts, some of which I don't think fit this tractor. I have a twenty year old reciept for a radiator rebuild on this tractor and the price was 1400$!!!!. Hard to believe. In the bottom of one of my pics you can just see the mounting tab on a heavy plate radiator guard, the holey type.

My Fiat-Allis parts book shows the round type air cleaner as the "First Type". The dash mounted air cleaner was effective with s/n 23003 I had thought that all HD7G's had the dash mount.

DC in KC, I don't know what to say about paint these days, when I painted my 11, I pondered on acrylic enamel, poly paints, and just regular enamel. I really do regret my decision to go with Tisco brand synthetic enamel and hardener, it is going away fast and the color didn't last a year before it started fading and the hood and top of the tank are almost yellow now after several years of California sun, but, to paint with Poly-urethane was going to be well over the $1000 mark, so you spend it on paint or you spend it on re-paint. It kinda reminds me of saying they had on the farm when I was growing up "There is never time or money to do it right, but there is plenty of time and money to do it over"(insert smiley face here). Tad
