Our 7060 had the neihoff alternator on it and we have changed it over to a delco 110 amp alternator. We are using the old pulley but the tachometer isnt reading right. What pulley do we need and where can we get it?

betcha Steve wil know........
I'm thinking if it reads low now, you need a smaller pulley as that'd speedup the alternator.
Course that begs the question HOW will you know that 1200 RPM IS 1200 RPM ?

If you are using the old pulley, I should be turning the same speed. There may be a difference in the number of pulses between the alternators.

I believe ( can't remember for sure, someone told me that when I was thinking of a Delco.) you need a pully from a 1206 int. and that should make your tack accurate

How did ya get the niehoff pulley on the Delco? The niehoff I have seen, the shaft is smaller than the Delco, I suppose it could be drilled....

I was wondering the same how you got the pulley to work.  A year or so ago I changed out my 8030 to a delco and had to get a new pulley as the one it came with only had a single grove belt set up and the niehoff pulley would not work?

40+ years ago, A-C had a "kit" to update older Delcrotron alternators (old maroon 7000 series) to the new 100 Amp Neihoff. It came with a new tachometer. Must be the old tach wouldn't read correctly with the Neihoff.

Not only did some of the Niehoff's have a smaller .580 shaft, vs the .670 Delco shafts, the pulley diameter as well as the offset was a bit different also if memory serves me right. As Albert mentioned the belt fits better. Its been quite a while since I've changed over a Niehoff. They were a PIA sometimes when it came to tachometer outputs...
