Drained the transmission fluid and changed filters on my 7045 and it appears to have drained the hydraulic resivor as well.I was under the impression these were separate compartments, haven't ran the tractor at all since I started this prosses. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Transmission alone holds approx. 7 1/2 gallons of oil. The hydraulic system has three drain plugs and hold 17+ gallons of oil.
Owners manual helps clear this up.

I understand that, I do have the manual but it doesn't explain why the hydrolic oil drained out with the transmission oil.
Are they not separate compartments ?

Transmission and hydraulics/differentials are 2 separate compartments. What transmission do you have and what plug did you pull?

Power director manual trans
I drained all the fluids for a full service, put new filters in it, replaced drain plugs...
Proceeded to fill hydraulic at rear of tractor to sight glass level. Then when i started to fill transmission under the seat the dipstick showed it had gained oil in it before I even added any yet, and now the level has went below the sight glass for the hydraulics

You didn't drain the transmission fully. You didn't clean the transmission screen did you ?? 17g + 7g is at least 24 or more total gallons of oil you should have drained if you drained everything, which I don't believe you did.

3 plugs on rear end plus screen on my 8000 series i think....been awhile probably should do it again + - 500hrs

According to Dr Allis I can pour 24 gallons of oil in the rear of my tractor and it will equalize out into the transmission and I don't need to be concerned with the level of oil on the transmission dip stick?
If there is nothing to separate the two compartments why the fill plug and stick under the seat?
Either I didnt explain well enough or my post has been misread

Did you make sure and get the correct filters and pieces in the correct places on the rear end? The way I understand it, there is a longer and shorter filter and if you put the wrong one in the wrong place it will let the oil equalize

To properly and fully drain the Power Director transmission on a 7045: remove the belly pan guard from underneath...…..remove drain plug with an 1 1/8" wrench--you will get 2 gallons of oil...….remove the 3/8" bolt from the sump casting located near the front of the drawbar pull point-- you will get 5 gallons or so of oil......remove 8 or 10 more 3/8" bolts to remove the cast iron sump and cover plate......clean the suction screen.... use new gaskets to reassemble the sump and cover plate.....pour in 7+ gallons of oil in the cab. The hydraulic system is in the rear end and has three drain plugs. The two outer plugs will yield about 2 gallons each of oil and about 13 or 14 gallons will come out of the center drain plug. It takes 17+ gallons in the rear. it takes 7+ gallons in the cab. Nowhere did I say it takes 24 gallons in the rear and that also fills the front. You never fully drained the transmission.

Curious if the draining steps above for the power director be the same for a 7010? I have never done it and not sure when it was last done so maybe I should.
