I posted last week or so about low power on 7045. Turned out it was a missing push rod. Well after looking at it closer the next day, the push rod was snapped in half. I had to remove the head as 1/2 was bent oddly and couldn't be pulled out. New head gasket, reset the valves, still pops loudly on one cylinder and low power. What could it be, bad valve comes to mind for me. not sure what would have snapped the pushrod, maybe valve stuck a little and hit piston?? Can I drive it the 6 miles to my shop, been working outside at dairy farm, wouldn't mind a little heat :-) Or should I try to borrow a trailer?
After it was put back together, there was fluid leaking from crack in exhaust manifold. Looked black like oil, so thought maybe seal on turbo. I replaced with another one, and no improvement. I think it may have been fuel turned black from exhaust soot. While runnning, it makes a distinctive pop and miss from one cylinder. There is very little blow-by coming out (almost none). Thanks in advance

swap injectors from 2 cylinders once you find suspect cylinder by cracking lines. could have got something in an injector while apart.

Guess that could be very likely. I didn't think of it cause I just replaced them all

black liquid coming from seams or holse in the exhaust is not a problem, all of ours do it until they get warmed up enough to burn out the condensation, or a little water that has gone down the exhaust. Now once it is up to operating temp, and you have put a little load on it, and it continues, or it smells like fuel, you may have another issue. Do you have any bluish white smoke after it warms up?

It bent a valve when pushrod came off. Happens when adjuster loosens up. Lifter gets on rim of pushrod several times until it bends pushrod and comes off.
Did you grind valves or check them while head was off? MACK

How much oil pressure does it have? I have heard that the line from the head to the rockerarm shaft can plug up. If it did, you could still have good oil psi, but no oil volume up there. Oil volume is what lubs the valves, rockers, adjusting screws, pushrods, and cam lobes. I have seen this first hand on a 4W305 with 65 psi, low oil volume out the rocker arm shaft. It is my belief that this lead many an 8550 and 4W305 to an early death. Good luck.

It has 40 psi. I ran it with valve cover off. Lots of oil flow passing through it. Not much or no oil leaking out through rocker arm assembly, not sure if that is right. Seems most oil is going straight through it. Plenty of oil coming out pipe at end, though.

On our old 4W305, we had a small grove scratched from the oil holes on the rockerarm shaft. The holes were at 4 oclock and the groves came up to about 3 & 9. As soon as this was done, we had plenty of volume. We figured with 2 valves per rockerarm, it made so much up pressure on the shaft, the oil couldn't get out. Our adjusting screws would wair out and the pushrods would turn blue from the top down because of heat.

Pinch the return tube from rockers 3/4 closed will help oil the rockers. MACK
