I'm looking at buying one but it has 5000 hours. How many hours can you get out of one of these before major problems?
Are there any service manuals I can look at online?
Where is the best place to buy a radiator?
I'm guessing that pulling my 8' brush cutter will be a breeze since I can pull it with my 30hp Kubota.
Thanks!

Depends. If it doesn't use oil, has good oil pressure and runs good I wouldn't touch it especially if you're just gonna use it for light duty. If you're gonna put hundreds of hours a year on it and pull it hard I would do the main and rod bearings and use new rod bolts assuming it had never been done. My opinion only! Worth what u paid for it.

How many hours before major problems?  Cannot be answered!  Depends who operated it and maintained it - that makes all the difference.

Manuals of all types can be found pretty cheap on e-bay. If you are spending several thousand to buy a tractor, why not spend and extra $100 (or less) to educate yourself about what the tractor can do and how you should look after it?

Just get your old rad recored, you will never have to touch it again.  A local shop can do that for you.  Any used one you find will probably be as good as what is already in the tractor.

Radiator is missing.
I don't mind spending the money on a manual if I have to. Just figuring out what I need to do.
Assuming it was taken care of how many hours can you expect them to last?
Thanks!

Taken care of, I believe they'll last a very long time. I know a guy with a 426 with over 6,800 hours on the working hour meter, never rebuilt, runs great, starts pretty easily, even in 20 degree temps in the winter.

My brother had his 7030 rebuilt at 6400 hours. When he bought it it looked like a toilet. I mean it was rough and beat. Today it's a nice looking tractor and runs like a champ.

In the event where you find a 7040 that actually has had proper maintenance and operation, no over heating, no super cold start ups without a block heater, no reving engine before warmed up, timely engine, hydraulic, transmission oil changes using quality oils and filters, timely coolant changes and flushes, no bouncing excessively over rough ground or upshifting under heavy load, no down shifting at high speed, quality fuel, shedded, no popping the clutch etc etc.........

You should get 10,000 hours........... good luck finding one with that kind of care. Especially orphans tractors like Allis where dealer support has eroded to the point of making these tractors sell, even a nice one, for 1/3 the price for a well used Deere or Magnum. Right here on this forum full of Allis fans, I have seen people post how cheap these tractor are and that they just buy them and use them til something breaks and then park them in the weeds and go buy another. Do those tractors get any care? I doubt they get much!

I personally know of a few around me that get treated just like that. They are throwaways for those people.

Good source for parts is your AGCO dealer. I haven't needed anything that has not been available but others who repair them for a living would know more.
