Early was two rows of lights, late was a rectangle panel of lights. MACK

And they are different. The early style used bulbs with red paint on them and had to be twisted into a socket. The later type were just a push into the socket bulb. The later style can be purchased at any automotive store. The early style would have to be got at an Agco dealer or just get one at your automotive store and paint it yourself.

Technically no. The last year of the 7040 use a red plexiglass cover over the bulbs. That cover had little symbols etched into it for each of the functions that it was monitoring. In 1978, the black belly tractors used a similar dash but it used a decal over the lights with different colors to alert the operator. I doubt if the original 7040 style is available anymore , so the decal will have to serve. I may have one of those old style uptown, I can look. The decal is kind of expensive as I recall. If you get a decal. make sure to get one for whatever transmission you have . Power shift decal is different than power director.

Also worth noting, the dash panel itself is very different, in the older style is flat, the later one has a step in it, so to speak.

Yes, that's the part number that I see. It doesn't look like it includes the large decals on the side hoods that say 7040. I suppose that the repaint decal kit is for all of the models and you have to buy the specific model hood decals for whatever model tractor you have.
