Looking for an alternator for a 7040. Has a Wilson 90-01-3081 on it currently(Delco Remy style). Does anyone know where I could possibly get a one wire alternator with the tach terminal on it? Thanks in advance.

Steve, yes that may work , thanks for finding that I looked at their website and couldn’t find it, I will have to use my old pulley probably because it’s a two groove pulley.

I want a one wire because right now the keyed ignition wire going to the two wire plug on the alternator does not have power on it at all, so what I have been doing is cranking tractor and then jumping across the two terminal plug to excite the alternator. I could run a new wire from the ignition switch to the alternator but one wire alternator kinda makes everything easy

Take a visit to our Website and read about 1 wire Alts vs 3 wire Alts. There's a lot more information there than "easy". Especially on larger Tractors that have more current usage up at the dash... If you go down the header to "More" a drop down window appears. You want to click on more Technical Info. Roll down to the Alternator information. Makes for a good read.
