Our 7030 lost steering today...It steers a lil bit but then its like the oil dead heads. Oil is clean and almost no hrs on it. PD, and HYd Remotes work fine as do the brakes. Any ideas on where to look first?? Steering motor maybe? I thought id hope on here see if anybody else ever had this issue. Thanks Bob

I think it has a priority valve so the steering and brakes get first dibs for hyd pressure. They are supposed get pressure before anything else. I don't think the orbital motor would go out all of a sudden unless something broke which is unusual.JP

I would say the gear pump split a gear. First, I would remove the flow divider spool and check for stuck spool or foreign material in orffic.    MACK

Remove big nut on bottom of gear pump. Behind nut there will be cap, shim, spring , orffic plate, then spool should come out.     MACK

Update: After setting over night, it will work properly for about 2 hours and then starts this issue of not wanting to turn. If you turn it real slow it will but if you crowd it at all the steering wheel wants to fight back. I dont know if any of this makes a difference but, after 2 nights of trial and error and the fact that it works perfect for 2 hours or so i thought i would add this just so all the details were posted. I thought maybe this is something spawned once the oil gets nice and warm. Thanks for the help so far guys we really appreciate it. Bob

Do you have easy access to another similar tractor or a 2 way cylinder with similar ports? I had a steering cylinder fail on a sprayer and it acted a lot like you describe. I found that out after having the orbital rebuilt...

Are you sure it is full of oil?  Screw the bottom sight glass out to make sure it is full.
Go to your local Ago dealer and buy the left side trans. Filter. When you replace it, make sure there is a screen in inside end of filter. Take it out and put in new filter.     MACK

I took out sight glass full of oil. About 40 hrs on the oil (821) and the filter. I changed the filter again. Doesnt have much steering at all now after 30 mins or so. I am wondering if the pump is getting weak...The pump in the middle of the 3 is the one that controls the power steering correct? Thanks again Bob

Yes, it is the middle pump. Sounds like time to pull pumps.      MACK

I doubt we will fare better... Luckily we have a few spares from now 6 generations on the family farm and always using most all orange unless we couldn't pass up a deal on another color. The 7030 is dads baby...(one of several of the tractor species...) It chucked a rod back in the day and we had a 3750HI on a stand from when the 7580 when the rear end let go... so he stuck it in there, cut the cab down, nicely not just hacked it off... and went to town playing with it. He loves it. He will get the old White 4-150 out that we put a 318 Detroit in when the kitty let go for a 3rd time and play with it some on the finisher and Drop the 7080 onto the chisel to take the 7030's spot. Thanks for all the help. I hope to get a chance in a few days to pull the pumps.
Is the pump rebuild able or are the throw-away's? Thanks Bob
