some days powershift is great, no slipping, next time it slips in every gear right down to stopping it, no lights on power steering is there.  before we get into tearing it down what do you guys think? its had 2 torque limiters in its life, by the allis dealer. 9000 hours, still a awesome tractor.

if the steering is still ok and the pto turns while slippage occurs, it is not the TL.  Sticking valve on the PS control valve assy most likely - if it were the oil supply the lube light should come on.
When told "it's not the money,it's the principle", remember, it's always the money..

Mine throws some fits like that sometimes. I figured out it was mainly going up really steep hills so I started running the trans fluid a little overfull and fixed that. It has always slipped when the trans filter gets dirty. So back in the summer it started doing it again and it hadn't been long since the trans filter had been changed so I figured it was the generic fluid I was using messing the filter up. I drained fluid and put in new filter and filled with John Deere hyd fluid. The jury is still out on that because it don't get used much this time of year.

TL can work that way if it is getting oil on it . Tractor has to come to a complete stop before steering will give up. Same with PTO and dash lights.          MACK
