Have a 76 7000 with a non original motor. I bought a new temp sending unit because the old one quit. I either bought the wrong one or am looking in the wrong place for the old one. Attached a pic of what I think the old one is. Thanks for the help

Looks like the right place, IF wire is a little short look for other plugs on that Thermostat Housing. Don't put too much sealer or thread tape on the sender as it can interfere with the sending unit being able to ground.

You can just use a pipe bushing to make it fit the hole. The problem is, it may not be the correct ohms to work with the temp gauge in the cab. The correct sender p/n is 70241249 for a maroon 7000 tractor. What do you have ??

Your in the right place. Have you taken the black tape off to look at the condition of the splice.

I ordered from stiener and it is the replacement for that part number. I think the guy i bought it from said the motor was out of a combine if that makes a difference. The thread size is to small and the stud size is to big on the new one.

Combine motor makes no diff at this point. If it is the correct p/n, it should be compatible with your gauge in the cab. Go to your local hardware store and get a pipe bushing to make the threads the next size larger diameter. Don't use much or any pipe dope on the threads.
