So I just purchased a 7000 and in driving it home I noticed that when you throw up the engine revs up slower than I feel it should. It's not "snappy" like my 190 and 185. And when you pull down fast it kills engine just like fuel shut off. Was told the fuel filter was just changed before I picked it up. Could it be pump, I'm just not sure

check the turbocharger. Otherwise it may be the injection pump.

Sounds like the governor in the pump is sticking? Was the tractor airing a long time before you got it? Might be worth bleeding the system again to make sure, and fuel filters aren't too expensive if you want to try that before a pump rebuild. Ed on here will probably chime in, and I'd just do what he says. Hasn't let me down yet!

metering valve in the pump is sticking if not billowing black smoke when throttled up. If it is billowing black smoke, but lazy to respond, then look at the turbo as stated above.

Anything under about 17 to 1800 RPM you are going to have that....sounds pretty normal.

check around intake manifold, looking for missing plug, or blown gasket. Have seen this more than once. Also could be an exhaust leak before the turbo if the manifold is cracked, blown gasket, or rotted out turbine housing.

A 7000 for some reason is worse about gumming up metering valve and pin that governor spring sets on than any of the 7000 series. MACK

I had a few mins last night to monkey with it. It has ok response in the upper end of Rpms. The hand throttle needs to be half way up before it comes of idle, and the foot is better but still takes quite a bit before it starts to react. Could cable be bad or that far out of adjustment? And if I rev it up and take my foot off the throttle it will die. According to the previous owner it always kinda been like this.....
