Im thinking of getting a pair for my 7040 or 50 and would like to see some pictures of how they look on some tractors before I get them so if you have some pictures please share them. I really wanted some 16.5-16.1 tires but they're hard to find and expensive as hell.

I already located a pair mounted on rims close to me. I would like to see how they look on a tractor before I buy them and then decide I don't like them but I'll probably get them until I can find some 16.5 4 ribs.

If you can locate any sales brochures of the 7000 series the 7080 in it has 18.4-16.5s on the front. I have a set of them ready to go on my 7080. It has 16.5-16.1s on it now. The 18.4s are a 16.5 not a 16.1 FYI.

This link (pages 1&2) shows photos of my 18.4-16.1s. Turned around, they don't wear as badly. Turning traction is good. http://allischalmers.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=135379&title=plowing-in-february

Here are a few shots of my 7080, just put the fronts on a little less than a year ago. I got them at the salvage yard, they are 18.4 x 16.1. This is what it looked like when I drug it home. ![]() It has 18.4 x 42 on the rear, I just bought a set of 520/85R/42, for a little wider rear. |

Idk what kind of work you are planning on doing with these tires, but after having a set on a 7080 we took them off because they absolutely suck trying to turn in any kind of loose dirt with them. They just slide. Switched to a r rib tire and it turns A LOT better.

Them giddy knobbie tires are junk on ANY tractor, big or small!--- ( dont ask how I know!)----in loose /soft dirt and mud sand etc. you will NEVER be able to steer the tractors!---- they look stupid and work even worse!---thats what I have found trying to use them!----Right now I am fighting a 917-H garden tractor with knobbies because I cant afford the good rib type to put on it!
Got rid the knobs off the 190 before I ever brought it home,--guy at the auction really wanted them, so we made a trade deal!---He probably still cussin! thanks; ac fleet |

Well I guess if they dont grab when turning I better stay away from them and keep looking for a reasonable priced pair of 16.5-16.1 tires,I like the looks of them better anyways. Thanks for the responses and pictures.

I have 18.4 x 16.1 's on the front of my 220 and don't have an issue with turning. I cultivate back and forth with a 25' cultivator but lift it when I turn. 20.8 x 38 duals on the back. Makes the 220 look mean. Tires are rears from a salvaged Kubota. Rims from a MF 2745

Keep 18.4-16.1s at the 20-25 psi level. That helps them grip for turns. With full rack of front end weights, a knobby 18.4-16.1 wiil still flex (flatten out) allowing good floatation at 25psi. The R1(tractor bar thread) & the ones you posted photos of, will have a designed flatness built in.

I used my 7060 for custom baling, and was getting grief for rutting up the field with the 14x16.1 TriRibs
I searched for some 18.4x16.1s and found some diamond treads on rims, but the rims are for a small Ford Raar axle, and the stud holes are far to large in diameter, So I am in search mode again for some rims to fit. when baling, I was turning VERY sharp, often acute, so got used to using the brakes. As such, I doubt I'd notice my fronts sliding, as I instinctively use brakes now to turn. I had saved some info on what rims fit... but can't find that right now. Do we need that reinforcing ring they show in the parts manual? |

Nanuk, if you're using the brakes a lot to turn in a hayfield, sounds like ya need a better rake man! :D I have the 18.4-16.1s on my 7080 and they turn ok with weight on the front. If you get the Goodyear diamond tread that's got a rounder profile than the armstrongs. helps with cutting ground while turning too.

Hey Wes. The tires I got are GY diamond tread. Nicely rounded! Came with noncompatable rims. And yes My rake man..... Well no rake just a swing haybine. He likes to cut acute corners! Not an issue anymore! I quit!

I had the 18.4's on the front of my 7080. It chiseled and pulled the field cultivator. Planted with it last year as well. Never had any trouble turning in loose dirt with it and it helped the tractor float better. Helped the looks out a bunch as well.
