Hey all,
We have a 7060 that needs the steering ram rebuilt and I was hoping I could get some advice on how to do it successfully. I thought there was a post on it, but after many searches I cannot find it, so I figured I would start a new one. First, how does it come apart, and second, any tips on sliding it back together so as not to cut anything or knock o-rings out of place? We did get the Agco kit and it does come with a new nut. Any info would be greatly appreciated, Thanks! Edited by GM Guy - 26 Dec 2016 at 10:27am |

Gleaner: the properly engineered and built combine.
If you need parts for your Gleaner, we are parting out A's through L2's, so we may be able to help. |

Remove outer snap ring on the gland, tap the gland in to expose the retaining ring in the tube, remove it and pull the assembly out.
Polish the groove area of the tube and it will go back together easy. |

I use a cylinder hone to smooth out the gland snap ring area, that seems to help a lot

Very easy job, did my 7020 cylinder this summer. Like they said remove outer ring, tap piece back in until inner retaining ring is exposed remove and pull assembly out. Just make sure all pieces are polished clean an no sharp edges upon assembly. Took me roughly an hour due to polishing up parts!

I have a 7020 that I'm attempting to remove steering cylinder to rebuild it. The 2 mounting bolts on either end of the cylinder appear to be stuck in the ball joint & won't come out. They will turn but ball joint turns to. Any thoughts on how to remove bolts?

Sounds like the bolts are rusted in the ball joints. Penetrating oil and maybe a little bit of heat...

I've been trying soak it with PB Blaster but its hard to get any where it needs to go. I'll try a little heat. Thanks for your input. Much appreciated.

Maybe try a two jaw puller to push the bolt out?
