Did the 7000 series tractors with the Acousta cab all come with AC as standard equipment or was it an option?

Depends. The first 7030/7050's didn't even have a cab available for the first few months. As time went on the cab became standard but there were still some models you could buy with a platform or a 4-post roll-bar. You're talking from 1973 thru 1981...….seven years of different models and sales programs.

On my 7030 it was listed as an option on the invoice.

You can disagree if you like. I KNOW of an original 7030 that has a Year-round cab because the factory cab was unavailable in March of 1973. He wanted a factory cab but didn't want to wait months to get one. He needed the tractor for Spring work.
That is the Customers story to me, not me making it up. I was in college at the time, so not involved in any A-C Dealerships yet. I'd also suggest possibly the LaPorte built cab had not yet been rollover certified yet ??

Now that I think about it, a similar story goes with the 6000 series...….no factory cabs in the early months of production. I know of an early 6060 with a Year Round cab.

Thanks DrAllis. That explains why I’ve seen several early 6000 & 7000 series tractor’s sometimes equipped with crappy year-a-round cabs. I could never imagine why anyone would do that versus the AC cabs.

Thanks for the info! I called a guy about a 1980 model 7060 powershift he has for sale and he told me it didn't have AC. I have never seen one without AC so I just assumed it was standard equipment. The guy who told me about it said it has been for sale for quite a while and no AC is probably why!

I have an early 7030 with a year a-round cab, and I will be converting it back to open station at some point. Loud and hot describe that cab well...I could make it a wintertime only tractor, but then it would probably be drafty and cold... Edited by GM Guy - 24 Mar 2019 at 3:05pm |
