I can't seem to get the clutch cable tightened enough. The guy before me put a wrench under the cable at the pedal to shorten the clutch cable.

I think it is stretched/worn out. Wanted to run it past y'all before I spend the dough on a new cable.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

It should have a series of holes on one end to adjust plus thread adjustment on both ends.                       MACK

Thanks, Mac!

There are no thread adjustment on either side. I think it might not be original, and might not be oem.

I don't have anymore on clevis side because of the 'sinker'. I only need 1/4 in.

Apparently these cables are like 300 bucks, but got to have it.

Not sure what you're trying to accomplish by adjusting the cable ??  The later model tractors had the clutch pedal down closer to the floor, with the throw out bearing riding all the time against the clutch fingers. I.E. not pedal free play whatsoever.  If the clutch releases when the pedal is pushed down, leave it alone. The early models had the clutch pedal coming up higher (to the top) and you adjusted to maintain 2 or 3 inches of pedal free play. So, what are you trying to do ??

Clutch doesn't disengage because the lever (behind the hydraulic filter) doesn't move far enough forward to disengage (without the wrench to shorten the cable installed). 3000 serial number.

Thanks!

Hmm that’s interesting. They have it ride throw out bearing all the time.

Yes, they did.  The engineers thought it would reduce wear on the pressure plates finger tips if the bearing rotated all the time, instead of having to spin the bearing up to engine speed every time you stepped on the pedal.
